Better middle splits in seconds! [đ˝ď¸ checkout this YouTube tutorial]
Rad and I did kickboxing and other forms of martial arts for most of our teenage years.
And good flexibility for fast and powerful high kicks was a major goal of mine.
We used to watch every martial arts movie more than once. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Van Damme were my favorite actors.
My favorite movie was Jean-Claude Van Dammeâs Bloodsport. I must have watched it a dozen times!
But despite stretching daily, I never achieved the level of flexibility he had.
Not even close!
Similar to the movie, my trainers seemed to think the best way to stretch was by force. Remember the classic scene with Van Damme strung up by his ankles in Bloodsport?
My kickboxing trainer wasnât âquiteâ as barbaric, but you get the point.
Hindsight is a hell of a thing. We now know that we were stretching completely wrong.
Forceful stretching doesnât work.Â
In fact, if Van Damme actually tried that stunt before he could do the middle splits, it would have ruined his chances of getting them - PERIOD!
But that doesnât mean you canât get them with the right training methods.
