Safe Training After Shoulder Injury
Shoulder labrum tears are extremely common in the gym.
The shoulder labrum is a thick piece of tissue attached to the rim of the shoulder socket that helps keep the ball of the joint in place.
Labrum tears usually feel like a dull throbbing ache in the shoulder joint. Pain can present in many different places, and it’s common to experience difficulty sleeping due to discomfort.
Make no mistake, a labrum tear can be nasty (and in extreme cases may even need surgical intervention), but it doesn’t mean you must quit training.
To avoid annoying pain or further injury, you will need a strategy to prime your shoulders prior to heavy lifting though.
Both Rad and I have experienced labrum tears in our shoulders over the years. We also both consider regular exercise essential to our health and longevity.
As a result, we’ve created a strategy to prepare our bodies for training.
If you experience any of the symptoms above, my team have made this nice little routine for you.
